Things to do in Baltimore this week 11/28/21

The holiday season is in full gear now! I always consider the Monument Lighting the official kick-off to the holidays in Baltimore so I can’t want to attend it this Thursday. Another fun way to get in the spirit is to visit the Christmas Village in Baltimore‘s Inner Harbor or get a ticket to A Christmas Carol at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. I did basically all of my shopping locally this year. I hit the jackpot at Star Bright Farm, they had something for everyone on my list. You should visit them during one of their upcoming Holiday Barn Market sales. I got my tree at the Farmer’s Market today so you know what I’ll be doing the rest of the day! If you have run out of Thanksgiving leftovers, check out Chuck’s Trading Post in Hampden. We are big fans of their Wednesday Burger Night; the Smashburger is amazing!

Using recycled vinyl cut to 26 x 36 inch pieces, the artist worked on batches of paintings in his home studio, the process of working on the paintings in layers fit into the times in between child care, family time, employment and housework. This at times erratic process was only exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic and working from home. While not a literal, day-by-day documentation of this time, the accumulated works (this exhibition includes 35 of 150 paintings) relay a sense of the fun, lack of sleep, mental health struggles, worry over the pandemic/the united states/climate change/etc and personal growth during this time.
