Things to do in Baltimore: April 2022

Hello folks! I know I’m behind and all over the place with posting. Here are some fun things you should attend in the next few weeks! I saw Sense and Sensibility at Everyman Theatre on Friday and it was great! Very funny and creative! Looking for something delicious? Check out Mera Kitchen Collective in their new home in Mt. Vernon!

Disgraced
April 1 – April 24
Vagabond Players
A successful Pakistani-American lawyer has turned his back on his culture and heritage in pursuit of the American Dream – living a life of luxury with a beautiful Caucasian wife and a lucrative promotion within his grasp. Ayad Ahktar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama shows how Amir’s world rapidly implodes at a dinner party with his African-American co-worker and her Jewish husband that shatters relationships and everyone’s beliefs about race and religious identity. Show contains strong language and subject matter – Recommended for mature audiences.

Sense and Sensibility
April 5 – May 1
Everyman Theatre
Both hilarious and heartbreaking, this fun, fast, and playful adaptation of Austen’s beloved classic follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters — sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne — after their father’s sudden death leaves them penniless and socially vulnerable. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?

April 15 – May 1
Spotlighters Theatre
Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap opened in London’s West End in 1952 and ran continuously until 16 March 2020, when the stage performances had to be temporarily discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it re-opened on 17 May 2021. The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by a snowstorm discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment, the identity and the motive are finally revealed.

Dream House
April 21 – May 15
Baltimore Center Stage
Two Latinx sisters guest star on an HGTV-style reality show to sell their family home in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of Hilo Villa. As they perform for the camera, one sister grapples with turmoil in the family’s ancestral past while the other learns how much she’s willing to sacrifice for the family’s future. What is the cultural cost of progress in America? And is cashing in always selling out?
