Is it just me or does it feel like January is lasting forever?  Either way, there are plenty of activities this week to make the time pass quickly. Baltimore County Restaurant Week lasts through February 4 so you still have plenty of great food options around.  Having two restaurant weeks is in January really does not help those with a healthy New Year resolution.  I just so happened to have gone a little too hard at brunch myself today with the Baltimore City Restaurant Week menu at Bookmaker’s.  It’s time for a nap.

We’ll teach you how to make a rubber mold of a small part so you can make plastic copies. In this workshop, be able to make a copy of a small part for resin casting. You can bring in the head of an action figure, a key-chain, Mr Potatohead’s left ear, a piece from a game, etc. Basically anything that will fit inside a red solo cup with about a half-inch to spare all around will be just fine. This class is $25 for dues-paying members of the Node, and costs $50 for non-members of the general public. You’ll leave this class with a plastic resin copy of your original object, and a mold to make more at home.

Like a party game, TASK is an interactive, improvisational art happening created by artist Oliver Herring, whose work is currently on view at the BMA. As a “Task Master,” YOU will use props and art supplies to dream up instructions and carry them out, like “build a wall” or “dance with a stranger” or “make 10 paper crowns and give them away.” That’s it, no rules, anything goes. Come see what happens! Laure Drogoul, “an interdisciplinary artist, olfactory spelunker and cobbler of situations” will bring her work “Teetering X Tottering (On the Brink).” This kinetic sculpture invites YOU to balance movement on the structure, triggering an audio response that fluctuates between the sound of the water in the sculpture and the field recordings of fish common to the Mid-Atlantic region. Art After Hours also celebrates the FINAL weekend of the acclaimed Matisse/Diebenkorn exhibition before it heads to San Francisco! In addition to Matisse/Diebenkorn ($17.50 value), Art After Hours tickets include one free ticket for food or drink from Alma Cocina Latina, DJ Isabejja, gallery talks, and more. An Evening with the David Wax Museum

The roots of David Wax Museum stretch back nearly a decade, and all the way from New England to Mexico. As a student at Harvard, Wax began traveling south of the border to study and immerse himself in the country’s traditional music and culture. Back in Boston, he met fiddler/singer Suz Slezak, whose love of traditional American and Irish folk music fused with Wax’s Mexo-Americana into a singular, energetic blend that captivated audiences and critics alike. Their 2010 breakout performance at the Newport Folk Festival made them the most talked-about band of the weekend, with NPR hailing them as “pure, irresistible joy.” They released a trio of albums that earned escalating raves everywhere from SPIN and Entertainment Weekly (who described them as sounding “like Andrew Bird with a Mexican folk bent”) to the New York Times and The Guardian (which dubbed the music “global crossover at its best”). They earned an invitation to return to Newport, this time on the main stage, as well as dates supporting The Avett Brothers, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Buena Vista Social Club, and more. Tonight’s performance finds (now husband and wife) David and Suz in an intimate, acoustic, duo format for a magical evening of song. 8pm | $20, $17 mbrs, | + $3 at the door

How can thousands of different beers come from the same 4 ingredients? In this course, we will explore the basics of brewing, as well as what each ingredient does for the beer’s color, aroma, alcohol content, body, and flavor. We will discuss beer styles, and what criteria are used to determine if a beer fits one or not. And, of course, we will taste beer! With our new found knowledge, we will take a slightly more critical approach to beer-tasting than the casual beer drinker. The goal is to help people better appreciate the complexity and beauty of handcrafted beer by giving them a deeper understanding of what’s really happening in the glass.  Tickets: $25 — Participants receive 8 beer samples, appetizers, a logo’d growler, and tour passes to the Heavy Seas brewery!
