Baltimore Vegan Restaurant Week 2017
August 18 – August 26
Visit www.mdveganeats.com for menus and locations!
Baltimore, MD
It’s real! Maryland Vegan Eats is proud to present the inaugural Baltimore Vegan Restaurant Week. From August 18 – 26, we invite you to visit over 30 wonderful local eateries who have been challenged to produce new and creative vegan-friendly dishes – aka not just another salad!
Baltimore is a booming food town, and we want to entice people from Baltimore and beyond to dine all over our fine city by curating a full week of Vegan offerings from places big and small. Unlike a traditional restaurant week that provides pre-fix menu, we have encouraged participating establishments to create a selection of items to be offered throughout the week – because inclusivity also means affordability. Baltimore Vegan Restaurant Week: where everyone is welcome at the table.

Mount Vernon began as the estate of Revolutionary War hero John Eager Howard and grew to be the place to live for Baltimore’s rich and famous in the mid-19th century. The Garrett family, owners of the B&O Railroad, the Walters, founders of the Walters Art Museum, and other families, built and lived in handsome mansions along the four parks of Mount Vernon Place surrounding the Washington Monument. The recent award-winning restoration to the 200-year old Washington Monument is the latest news from the revival of this historic neighborhood over the last decade. Join us on a tour to hear the stories behind the Washington Monument and see the landmarks of Baltimore’s grandest historic neighborhood. If your legs are strong, climb the Monument’s 227 steps for a birds-eye view of central Baltimore!

Celebrated folk musicians Caleb Stine and Lucas Chohany join forces with creators of In-Tune Painting, Alicia Gauger and Bridget Cusick, in this unique and intuitive painting workshop. Over the course of the 4-hour session, students are taught paint layering techniques and receive guidance in developing imagery to complete one-of-a-kind creations. Participants respond to a spontaneous live musical composition that inspires each stage of the painting journey, creating artwork that represents their personal interpretation of the session.  Attendees have referred to the session as a “synchronous movement,” referring to the harmony and shared energy between musician and student. The session is designed to create a therapeutic and meditative environment, and encourages individuality by breaking away from paint-by-number and singular image workshops. All skill levels are welcome. Participants will be working with acrylic paint on canvas. Supplies and snacks are included in the registration price.

Memphis is set in the places where rock and roll was born in the 1950s: the seedy nightclubs, radio stations and recording studios of the musically-rich Tennessee city. With an original score, it tells the fictional story of DJ Huey Calhoun, a good ole’ local boy with a passion for R&B music and Felicia Farrell, an up-and-coming black singer that he meets one fateful night on Beale Street. Despite the objections of their loved ones (Huey’s close-minded mama and Felicia’s cautious brother, a club owner), they embark on a dangerous affair. I wanted to thank you for your website. I found it about a month ago and now check every week to find events to do in the city. It’s pretty comprehensive and I appreciate that you go to the trouble of finding all of these and putting them together. Thanks!
