Things to do in Baltimore this week 8/28/17

One week away from another long weekend!  Well there are lots of things to tide you over until the weekend.  This might be the first time I haven’t quite decided on which events I’ll be going to yet.  Maybe I will surprise myself.  I think it all depends on how emotionally stable I am after tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones.  Will I drown my sorrows at my favorite bar or continue my happiness by attending a comedy show?  Only time will tell.

Ira Lawrence, ilyAIMY, Wanderlight at 4 Hour Day Lutherie
7PM – 10PM
The Four Hour Day Lutherie
4305 Harford Rd, Baltimore
It’s not quite ghost season yet, but at Four Hour Day Lutherie, in September’s First Friday show for them, we’re bound to be telling some ghost stories.
Ira Lawrence writes with an earnest honest delivery that a million bands struggle to approach, and he does it with just himself and a vintage mandolin inherited from his namesake.
ilyAIMY’s dual singer-songwriters have carved their way around the country for the past decade and a half – flirting with folk, rock, and various other labels, but never quite settling down. Their performance causes an internal conflict – the rhythms make you want to move, but the intricacy makes you want to stand transfixed and stare.
Wanderlight composes almost in translation from another language – one that is easily understood sadness and loss, and at the same time hope and triumph.

Despite the objections of their loved ones (Huey’s close-minded mama and Felicia’s cautious brother, a club owner), they embark on a dangerous affair. As their careers rise, the relationship is challenged by personal ambition and the pressures of an outside world unable to accept their love.
