Hi friends! I’m keeping it rather low-key this week, lots going on at work. On Tuesday I’m going to a Summer Pastas class at Schola. There are still a few spots left in the class! Then we have the long weekend coming up. I’m going to the beach but there is plenty going on in Baltimore to keep you busy too. I’m a little sad I have to miss some of the events but I need my chill time at the beach.
In other news, I was named in the Best 20 Baltimore Bloggers list by Feedspot. I’m #7, pretty cool.

Join us for an Arts and Culture Hack-a-Map! Lots of people want to know how to connect with cultural resources in Baltimore. But what if we had a map that really provides the resources that matter to us, the artists and makers, here in Baltimore? GEOLOOM co>map, launched last year, is an online mapping tool that aims to showcase a broad definition of arts and culture and connect artists to resources, support, and communities. The map demonstrates how arts and culture is woven into Baltimore’s neighborhoods and social fabric.
The Arts and Culture Hack-a-Map is a call to Baltimore-based artists and cultural workers of all mediums to create, update, and improve the GEOLOOM co>map to ensure that it truly reflects Baltimore and its many communities. Come join us to see what’s on the map already, add your thoughts on what else should be included, and learn from others about community resources that support their craft. We will demonstrate different ways artists and culture lovers can add arts and culture that they love, created, or find important to the map.
No prior experience with mapping needed! Just bring yourselves, your knowledge of a broad range of culture in Baltimore, and (optional) a laptop or tablet. Stay for as little or long as you would like! Check out the map yourself at geoloom.org! Or watch this video by Wide Angle Youth Media. Are you an artist who wants to be on the GEOLOOM co>map? Dina Martina- Fine Avec Me
8PM – 11PM
Creative Alliance
3134 Eastern Ave, Baltimore
This tragic singer, horrible dancer and surreal raconteur, the hysterically funny Dina Martina debuted at Seattle’s Center on Contemporary Art in 1989, instantly gleaning reviews that dubbed her “magically warped,” “utter genius,” and “unwittingly hilarious”. Since then, she’s packed venues and shared the bill with acts ranging from Modest Mouse to Nina Hagen to Margaret Cho. Absolutely packed with ludicrous song, horrifying dance, overburdened costumes and sidesplitting video, Dina Martina’s shows are impossible to describe – other than that they’ve become synonymous with jaw-dropping pathos and mind-blowing comedy. What a Dina Martina show is, quite simply put, is a smart and hilarious evening of entertainment that you will never forget.

Incredibly Dead!
May 11-June 3, Fri & Sat 8PM – 10:30PM, Sun 4PM
Zion Church Of the City Of Baltimore
400 East Lexington Street, Baltimore
From the Baltimore Rock Opera Society, A B-horror homage with dastardly heroes, maniacal villains, and insane antics! Nearly twenty years ago, General Maximilian Morder devised a plan to bring order to the world with the aid of a mysterious goo. Things didn’t pan out. Now, the elixir is in the hands of Reggie and Silas Cryptz – two moronic morticians who have drawn the vile ire of a family they’ve cheated in the past. The antics of our heroes will lead to monstrous results, and a dire intersection with fate. “Incredibly Dead!” is pure B-horror: cheap thrills, intestine-length twists, and blood-drenched fun. The show is set to rockin’ tunes that pay homage to spine-tingling classics, and will sever tapping toes! This is pure, unadulterated fun (lots of people die, but we swear, you’re going to enjoy watching them die). Due to adult language and people like, you know, dying and what not, we consider the show rated “R.”

The concept of MDF is simple: to bring to the United States the best and most extreme bands the underground has to offer. Never conforming to trends, or being limited by genre restrictions, MDF is a showcase of what extreme music, both new and old, is capable of. With an emphasis on diversity, the festival brings together the very best death metal, grindcore, thrash, doom, black metal, hardcore, and experimental bands from all around the world. With bands from all over the U.S. and Canada, and exclusive fly ins and rare appearances from some of the most in demand bands from Europe, Australia, and Japan, the diversity of the lineup is only surpassed by the diversity of MDF’s rabid fan base, who annually travel from all over the world for a weekend of fun and music.
