Hi friends! It’s the end of a decade. Plenty to do on New Year’s Eve in Baltimore. I’ve curated the list to include some of my favorites so it’s not everything going on if you don’t see some events. I’m going to New Year’s Eve dinner at Charleston. I’m not a big party person, just want a nice dinner and a perfect view of the fireworks. The rest of the week is pretty slow as we recover and start 2020. On Sunday I’m catching a matinee of The Foreigner at Spotlighters Theatre. I’m kick-starting my resolution to get in shape by attending classes at Movement Lab. They are doing $30 for 30 days which is an awesome deal! Plus the Nia class is so much fun! I’ve been using Rent the Runway UNLIMITED for all my holiday parties and work clothes this month! It’s fun having something different to wear for every event! If you want to give it a try, Click Here! I can’t wait to wear my cute dress on NYE!

Welcome to the Peeps Show, where on the first Thursday of every month, we give our audience the opportunity to peek behind the curtain at the saucy talent of female artists in Baltimore. The Peeps show opens with a feature of a local female or gender-minority artist sharing their work and the context behind it. Then, a curated coterie of female and gender-minority improvisers perform a show inspired by the art and artist. The Peeps Show sheds light on the incredible and diverse artistry of Baltimore. It is an unmatched opportunity to see what happens when worlds collide. It is a tease for the pursuit of expression.

The Foreigner
Dec 13 – Jan 12, Fri & Sat 8PM, Sun 2PM
Spotlighters Theatre
817 Saint Paul St, Baltimore
The Foreigner is a fun, two-act comedy by American playwright Larry Shue. The story takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia where two Englishmen, Froggy and Charlie, arrive as guests. The shy Charlie agreed to accompany Froggy on the trip after his sick wife begged him to go. When people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, however, he remains silent: he is terribly shy, depressed about his wife’s illness, and cannot find the words to reply. Froggy claims that Charlie cannot talk because he is a “foreigner” from an exotic country, and does not understand English. Taking the explanation that he’s a non-English speaker as fact, the lodge’s guests quickly begin revealing their secrets, and Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge. Set against a backdrop of white supremacy and the KKK, who work to take control of the lodge and remove the “Foreigner” this comedy allows us to confront the xenophobia and racism still present today.
