Inspired by Citizen University’s Civic Saturdays, The Baltimore Butterfly Sessions will bring together music, poetry, literary excerpts, and thought-provoking keynote addresses to catalyze conversation and build awareness around today’s most pressing issues. Tapping into some of the brightest voices around the nation and in Baltimore, each Butterfly Session will convene artists, activists, organizers, and thinkers to unpack a civically resonant topic. Through the Baltimore Butterfly Sessions, BCS aims to create a space for civic dialogue & fellowship across difference and stay firmly rooted in our local community. Game & Grain Dinner
6PM – 10PM
Noona’s
1203 W. Mt. Royal Ave., Baltimore
We often talk about the produce we bring in from area farms but fail to bring attention to an important category of Mid-Atlantic crops. Since transitioning to locally-milled flour in our pizza dough, we’ve opened a pandora’s box of lesser-known grains grown by hard-working and responsible Maryland farmers. These are the staple foods of traditional diets and offer a richness of flavor and character unmatched by mass-produced alternatives. On this night, we’ll work to elevate grains like farro, cornmeal and rye from Migrash Farm and arborio rice from Next Step Produce by pairing them with game meats from The Huntsman Specialty Meats in Lorton, VA. The Huntsman, who works with the best restaurants in D.C., will bring us fresh venison and quail; both more flavorful and nutrient-dense than typical agricultural products. There’s nothing better than working with the best raw ingredients we can find. On the beverage side, and staying true to the ‘best-of-the-best’ theme, we’re beyond excited to collaborate with WhistePig Whiskey for the evening. Our very-own Tyler DiMarco will present a special cocktail menu heavily utilizing their fine whiskeys. Tickets are $65 and include 5-courses with snacks and guests will have the option to add a cocktail pairing for $30.

Donizetti’s Anna Bolena at Baltimore Concert Opera
7:30PM – 10:15PM
Baltimore Concert Opera
1 W. Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore
Gaetano Donizetti was particularly entranced with the Tudor period of English history, and its queens in particular. Anna Bolena, about King Henry VIII’s second wife Anne Boleyn, was the first opera in the series referred to as “the Three Donizetti Queens.” A powerhouse soprano role, Anna stands at the center of a whirlwind of intrigue, infidelity, and torture. She is betrayed by the King’s appetites and the machinations of the men around her, and the opera documents Anna’s inevitable progression to the Tower of London and her ultimate execution in true bel canto style. The performance will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Join us for a free pre-performance lecture 30 minutes before each performance. The performance will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.

BIG Time with Stacey Chambers
8PM – 9PM
Baltimore Improv Group
1727 North Charles Street, Baltimore
BIG Time – How do you know when you’ve truly succeeded? The answer is when the Baltimore Improv Group invites you to have your life memorialized in a series of made up, totally unprepared comedy scenes celebrating you! Come join a hand picked cast of BIG’s best improvisers as they comedically revere some of Baltimore’s most important movers and shakers. About Stacey Chambers, as told by Stacey Chambers: You may know her as the Bus Lady aka the chick in the bus at all the festivals and markets. She’s more than just a pretty bus though. Mark Twain said stories happen to the story tellers, this, for better or worse (mostly better) completely applies to her life. Even when it’s shitty, it’s interesting shitty and she shares it all with humility and humor. Growing up in Reno, Nevada she often felt like a loner Dottie… a rebel…. wait that was PeeWee Herman. I digress, from growing up as a half Latino child in a ‘kind of’ redneck family in Reno, Nevada to her often solo travel adventures to driving a weird ass painted hippie bus around Baltimore selling clothes and spreading kind words, bad jokes, and farts, (that wasn’t your baby’s diaper, it was her) she has a lot to say. Most of the goddamn time she won’t shut up. Stacey also likes scary movies, tacos, Frasier, and her adorable furbabes John Carpenter and Patty Anne Warren.

You’ll relate to Moore’s live-swiping and laugh at her reactions and find inspiration in her ridiculous, random emoji-filled messages (and sometimes even phone calls!) to would-be suitors. It’s also a great show to attend with a date, Tinder or otherwise. But don’t expect cheap shots…this show has a huge heart. 3134 Eastern Ave, Baltimore
Our annual mid-winter Carnival celebration with costumed dancers, dance lesson and more. Forró. Funk. Brass. Pounded by calloused hands; blasted by tight grooves. It calls across time and continents – with a response from hips and feet. It’s the force that blew through Louis Armstrong in the twenties. It’s the power that gets Brazilians swinging in the streets for carnival. Nation Beat singularly conjures up this elemental musical mojo, drawing on the wellsprings of rhythm that lit up jazz and got maracatu thundering. Nation Beat takes off with be-bop-via-Brazil drumming; propelled by percussive bursts of New Orleans-flavored brass. But forget the musical history; this is music to make you dance.
