Things to do in Baltimore this week 10/3/21

Many fun times to be had this week. I’m looking forward to opening night of FLYIN’ WEST at Everyman Theatre on Friday! I overbooked myself on Sunday with Feastival 2021 at Sandlot followed by a Burgundy Tasting with The Wine and Food Society of Baltimore, pray for my liver.

October 1 – October 24
Fells Point Corner Theatre
Margaret Edson’s powerfully imagined Pulitzer Prize–winning play examines what makes life worth living through her exploration of one of existence’s unifying experiences—mortality—while she also probes the vital importance of human relationships. What we as her audience take away from this remarkable drama is a keener sense that, while death is real and unavoidable, our lives are ours to cherish or throw away—a lesson that can be both uplifting and redemptive. As the playwright herself puts it, “The play is not about doctors or even about cancer. It’s about kindness, but it shows arrogance. It’s about compassion, but it shows insensitivity.”

October 5 – October 31

This is a story of overcoming tremendous odds. Four Black female pioneers, American Homesteaders, settle together in the all-Black town of Nicodemus, Kansas at the turn of the 19th Century. Trying to build better lives for their families, they work their own land and forge forward against often harsh and unforgiving circumstances.

Each trip will leave from and return to the party and involve a walking portion and a trip on the Maryland Zoo shuttle and take approximately 40 minutes.
