Indiginal Artisan & Wellness Studio

An ordinary person may consider meditation as a worship or prayer. But it is not so. Meditation means awareness. Whatever you do with awareness is meditation. “Watching your breath” is meditation; listening to the birds is meditation. As long as these activities are free from any other distraction to the mind, it is effective meditation. Meditation is not a technique but a way of life. Meditation Monday brings you different types of meditation, so you can see what you like!

Opening Reception for “Portrait Garden”
5:30PM – 7:30PM
The World Trade Center Baltimore – Top of the World Observation Level
401 E Pratt St, Fl 27th, Baltimore
Top of the World Observation-Level Gallery hosts an opening reception for “Portrait Garden,” a solo exhibition by Lynn Cazabon. This exhibition is on view October 1, 2016 through the end of September 2017. At the opening reception guests have the chance to enjoy light refreshments, meet the artists, and view the exhibits. Please arrive by 7pm to be guaranteed entry to Top of the World. Free to all. Portrait Garden is a literal and metaphorical garden of ‘portraits’ of eleven women incarcerated at Maryland Correctional Institution for Women in Jessup, MD. These ‘portraits’ consist of photographic images of plants—selected to represent each woman—along with audio interviews in which the women discuss their plant choices and their experiences with gardening past and present. The project is the result of an exchange between the artist and inmates that used environmental stewardship as a tool for self-reflection through the creation of perennial gardens on the prison grounds. Portrait Garden started in the summer of 2013 when Cazabon began working with women who volunteered to be part of the Maryland Green Prisons Initiative, a program created to bring nature into Maryland prisons by supporting partnerships between inmates and researchers outside of the prison system. The inmates selected for participation in Portrait Garden are serving sentences that range from 5 years to Life.

Tea Leaf Green w. Atlas Road Crew
8PM – 1:30AM
The 8×10
10 E Cross St, Baltimore
Tea Leaf Green
It ain’t easy being a gypsy, especially if one sings for their supper. San Francisco’s Tea Leaf Green are newfangled Lost Boys, a traveling gang dedicated to seeking wisdom and experience in places both glorious and seedy. In many ways, this quintet is the essence of rock’s adventurous, playfully outlaw spirit, all of which ultimately fuels songs that resonate with classic vibrations, open-ended possibilities and radio-ready charm. TLG are bruised romantics with heavy minds and a lighthearted way with experimentation, as likely to jam out a number as they are to nail a primo verse-verse-chorus pop gem.

Mondo Baltimore – “Burial Ground” & Costume Contest!
7PM – 10:30PM
The Windup Space

Cash prizes and other goodies for the winner(s)! As usual, the screening is FREE w/karaoke afterwards. Here’s what’s on the agenda.
Baltimore horror auteur Chris Lamartina (Call Girl of Cuthulu, President’s Day) retuns with another collection of Halloween clips… just make sure you get an adult to check them first.
Get ready to have your good taste offended by a film that typifies early 80’s Italian Horror – poor dubbing, extreme gore, rampant nudity, zombies, sleaze and more! What makes this film notable as the appearance of Michael the “man-boy.” You’ll see what we mean soon enough.

Talking Points double album release w/ Mondawmen and Theljon Allen
8PM – 12AM
2549 N Howard St, Baltimore
Talking Points have been creating original, compositionally engaging music with an improvisational edge since January 2013. Since then, their work has garnered the attention of both jazz and metal fans alike. In August 2016, the band quietly released TWO full-length records of their music :”Superposition” and “Leonard” – the latter of which features exclusively compositions by Daniel Ryan as written for the quintet plus a small orchestra! This concert event is the official launch of both the records!!! Many thanks go out to our many kickstarter supporters who made financing the records possible!!!
Better yet, we have two of the best bands in Baltimore joining us to make a truly remarkable bill! Mondawmen is the hard-hitting, deeply grooving, outer-space churning combination of Chris Pumphrey-rhodes piano, John Dierker-saxophone, Brent Madsen-trumpet, Paul Joyce-bass, Erich Von Marko-drums, Jim Hannah-percussion. Theljon Allen is one of the strongest trumpet players on the scene. His music is subtle, challenging and engaging, brought to life by an ever-powerful cast of musicians.

If a Baltimore resident can have a meaningful cultural experience at community anchors like the Windup Space for $10, then those residents should be able to have a meaningful political experience for the same price of admission. By activating progressive sponsors and donors for More Creative Power who can afford to donate more, we can ensure it delivers our campaign the resources it needs to flourish, without curtailing access for everyday Baltimoreans.
