Things to do in Baltimore this week 11/21

A short work week and tasty food is upon us!  Plenty to keep you entertained until the big day and then lots of fun and shopping to follow.  Here is a list of all the restaurants you can eat at on Thanksgiving.  I get it, not everyone wants to cook, you just want tasty food.  Make sure to order plenty for leftovers the following day.  I don’t know about you but I won’t be out there fighting the crowds on Black Friday when there are new Gilmore Girls episodes to be watched.  Small Business Saturday is my jam though, maybe I’ll see you around.

Allin. NOBUNNY is the alter ego of Justin Champlin, who was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and relocated to San Francisco, California.Champlin first made a name for himself as the drummer with garage punks the Okmoniks and later co-founded the Sneaky Pinks, a two-man punk-pop party machine.

Can’t Hang – Jah Works – Wise Eyes
8PM – 1:30AM
The 8×10
10 E Cross St, Baltimore
Can’t Hang With a wide inspiration ranging from Dennis Brown to NOFX, Can’t Hang can light up any room and convert even the most stringent naysayers into dancing, partying fiends. This Reggae/Punk hybrid band has made it solely on the merit of their music and their live show, and they refuse to slow down. They are not in it for the fortune and fame. Their mission is to be the greatest party band you have ever seen and all of their success to date is a result of that mantra.
Jah Works is a band of brothers based out of Baltimore, MD dedicated to writing, recording and performing original reggae music. While rooted firmly in the tradition of authentic Jamaican roots and dancehall, the band also blend elements of hip hop and popular music into their mix. A heavy dose of drum and bass combined with sweet melodies and catchy hooks are the groups’ trademarks.
Wise Eyes is more that two words written on the underside of a white Stetson cowboy hat, or two words printed on a sticker placed on the higest point on the lightpole outisde the SIdebar. Wise Eyes is a collective of four musicians who strive to create a sound, brand, and attitude that creates a sense of positivity and fun wherever it is seen or heard. The lineup as it stands as of this writing is Sean Mo on the guitar and lead vocal duties, Brett Setera on the lead guitar with the vocals here and there, Alex Wolsky on the bass guitar and backing vocals, and Tyler “Dragon” Setera on drums and percussion.

Staged Reading of Julie Zaffarano’s “The Playmakers”
3PM – 6PM
Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center
847 N Howard St, Baltimore
The PlayMakers is the story of Lisa and Sebastian, a play writing team and lovers for many years, writing successful romantic comedies. Their professional and personal relationships unraveled, crashed, and burned. They went their separately ways, each trying unsuccessfully to write on their own. They have been brought back together by a producer who wants a revival play. While Lisa is hesitant to reestablish a professional relationship, she is anxious to regain her play writing status. Throughout the play, the audience sees glimpses of their past, as well as the difference in their personalities. The sexual tension between them is sometimes stark, sometimes suppressed, but it is always, always present. The added level is that the characters Lisa and Sebastian are developing appear to the audience and act out the scenes. The twist is that the characters begin to take over, interacting with each other and Lisa and Sebastian as well. Not always politely. The audience discovers that there really was no producer of the play – Sebastian contrived the whole experience in order to see if he made a mistake in letting Lisa go. Lisa and Sebastian discover some misunderstandings that could have been avoided if they had trusted each other enough talk openly, instead of in clever, pithy statements.
