There is something for everyone this week in Baltimore. We have stand-up, theater, every kind of music genre show, food, drinking, and fundraisers. You only have yourself to blame if you are bored in Baltimore. I’m a member of the Single Carrot Theatre so I’ll be busy trying to catch the FOUR different plays they are putting on this month. The first week of my restaurant fast wasn’t too bad. We had one last lazy hurrah on Tuesday and ordered KFC. Now every time I see the Georgia Gold commercials I start to salivate. Please go eat some delicious food for me this week!

In their enveloping and iconic works, identity is both alluded to and allowed to remain a mystery. Whether conveying the journey of cultural assimilation with an eye towards contemporary Surrealism in Fernandez’s large scale paintings, or the muscle memories of intimate friendships in Rotenberg’s wooden constructs, each artist unites elegant shapes and forms with muted colors to share their lives in the form of metaphoric objects.

Beer 101: “What You Taste & Why”

1300 Bank St, Baltimore
Malt, hops, water, and yeast. How can thousands of different beers come from the same 4 ingredients? In this course, we will explore the basics of brewing, as well as what each ingredient does for the beer’s color, aroma, alcohol content, body, and flavor. We will discuss beer styles, and what criteria are used to determine if a beer fits one or not. And, of course, we will taste beer! With our new found knowledge, we will take a slightly more critical approach to beer-tasting than the casual beer drinker. The goal is to help people better appreciate the complexity and beauty of handcrafted beer by giving them a deeper understanding of what’s really happening in the glass.
Tickets: $25 — Participants receive 8 beer samples, appetizers, a logo’d growler, and tour passes to the Heavy Seas brewery! Anyone who stays after the event will receive 15% off their meal!
