Things to do in Baltimore this week 5/22/17

A three day weekend is almost upon us!  Baltimore is always pretty quiet on Memorial Day weekend.  I think everyone goes to the beach.  I’ve got some pretty fun activities planned but it doesn’t involve the beach.  I apologize for the slim-pickings of entertainment this week; unless you like death metal. This is the week to be in Baltimore if you like death metal.  Have your friends over and cook out on the grill or something.

All grown up, Miss Tess & the Talkbacks regularly steal the show at venues with something a little rowdier and more eclectic. Infused with classic country, rhythm & blues, swamp pop and early rock n’ roll, she is an embodiment of everything that it still home grown in America.

Tacos, admittedly only a very small portion of Mexican cooking, provide us with a self-contained flavor explosion of everything from fried fish to beef tongue and beyond! We’ll look at both corn and flour tortillas, the canvas upon which a great taco is created. Then craft a variety of different salsas, fillings and toppings. $49.

Snapshots – A New Dancical
7:30PM – 10:30PM
Baltimore Theatre Project
45 W Preston St, Baltimore
This spring ArtsCentric remounts for the third time its original work, Snapshots, a response piece to the overwhelming death toll of African-American men at the hands of U.S. and state law enforcement officers. Damon, the lead character of the show, an intelligent young boy who sees the world through his camera lens, is at his senior prom when he is unjustly killed by law enforcement officers. In this story a family loses their only son. The community loses another young life and as a result, they refuse to stay silent any longer. In a riveting tale that is told mostly through dance, multimedia and live musical performances by some of the areas best singers, Snapshots takes a provocative look at the power of unity.
