Things to do in Baltimore this week 7/10/17

It looks like everyone survived the 4th of July.  Now it’s time to get back in to the swing of things with a full work week.  Another glorious week with lots of fun outdoor activities.  I’ve finally acclimated to the hot weather and no longer want to die immediately after stepping outside into the heat.  I’ve found that alcohol helps.  Maybe I will run into you at Pints in the Park on Friday?  Still have a hard time being out in the heat?  Plenty of indoor opportunities for fun this week too.  Time to get out and about, people!

7:00PM – ?
The Lyric
140 W. Mt Royal Ave., Baltimore
They’ve kept you sane. They’ve brightened your day. They’ve made you laugh ‘til you peed a little. And now Kristin and Jen, from #IMOMSOHARD, are taking their show out of the playroom and on the road on their Summer Break 2017 Tour. This show is 18 and over. Jumping off of the pages of Facebook and on to stages across the country, there’s no one making moms feel as uncomfortably normal as Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, the hilarious oh-so-real women behind #IMomSoHard.  Jen and Kristen’s blend of honesty and humor resonates with moms and dads alike, proving why these two have become the hottest ticket in town. Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley are the comedy duo #IMOMSOHARD. With a hugely popular web series on Facebook, these two best friends – and moms – talk the good, the bad, and the ugly funny about motherhood. Both have two small children and two regular-sized husbands, so logically, their web series could only take place in a playroom with red wine. Or mimosas. Or chardonnay. A lifetime of teaching, performing, and writing comedy, mashed up with holidays, birthdays, and football Saturdays can only culminate in hilarious, and sometimes too true, stories that have struck a nerve with so many parents. Now these two are taking to the road for IMomSoHard LIVE. The live performance reflects the casual conversations about motherhood that have made their series so popular.

BPS Presents “women” in Baltimore!
7PM – 8PM
The Motor House
120 W North Ave, Baltimore
“WOMEN”, choreographed by Nicole Bindler in collaboration with three dancers from the Bethlehem, Palestine-based Diyar Dance Theater, is a hybrid dabke/contemporary dance that explores the parallels between the conquest of Palestinian land and Palestinian women’s bodies. The dancers create a map of Palestine with stones on the stage and on the geography of their bodies. They perform quotidian tasks, such as braiding hair to the sounds of war outside their window. They dance to the music and the sounds of the streets in their hometown, Bethlehem. This piece is an ode to the women of Palestine told by three women who grieve the loss of their land and the sea they cannot visit. This piece is also a celebration of their vitality, resiliency and intelligence that resides not just in their minds, but in their skin, muscles and bones.
