Writing for My Sanity Therapeutic Writing & Meditation Workshop
6PM – 7:30PM
Impact Hub Baltimore
10 East North Avenue, Baltimore
Throughout the years, I have always looked to connect with others like myself, who suffered trauma or abuse, battled depression or mental illness, and needed a place to relax and relate. I found many local writing workshops but nothing was a good fit, creative writers mixed with those who just wanted to write, professionals with amateurs, people’s work being critiqued until they were uncomfortable sharing. Earlier this year, I released my second book, a book of poems titled, Writing For My Sanity, which gave me the inspiration to create this workshop.
The FREE Writing For My Sanity Therapeutic Writing and Meditation workshop will be held weekly, on Tuesday evenings at the Impact Hub in Baltimore from 6:-7:30 p.m. Bi-weekly, we will be joined by author, hypnotist and mental health advocate, Andrea Landry-Brown, who will lead us in guided meditation and facilitate writing exercises from her “Conversation With Myself ” Program. Bring a pen and notrbook/pad or computer/tablet and come enjoy a relaxing environment, the opportunity to write, connect and meditate.

From the Dirge to the Dance, their most recent work, includes 8 songs ranging from anthemic sing-alongs to crooning ballads. While some songs have a healthy dose of cynicism, some are also passionate outcries of hope and determination. There is a sense of nostalgia and a longing for permanence amidst the uncertainty of life’s peaks and pitfalls. Writing Circle
6:30PM – 9:30PM
The Baltimore Science Fiction Society
3310 E Baltimore St, Baltimore
The Speculative Fiction Critique Circle meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at BSFS HQ. We sit in a circle and people who have brought pieces for critique take turns reading their work aloud. We quietly mark the paper with any suggestions we have as they’re reading. Then afterwards we spend time discussing language, plot, characters, pacing, all that good stuff. If you’re going to present, bring 6 to 8 copies of a piece up to 2,500 words. For those with longer works, serialization is common. We’re a friendly, but very focused group of writers who go in-depth to critique the works we bring in. We never get personal, but we will provide deep, honest feedback. We’ve had many stories workshopped here published professionally, and our goal is to keep that happening by making stories as strong and sharp as they can be. Of course, anyone who just wants to sit in, not present, and talk writing with us, is more than welcome to come by and do just that.

8PM – 11PM
Creative Alliance
3134 Eastern Ave, Baltimore
The dance floor will be wide open! Come get your zydeco on! There are few sounds on the planet more danceable than zydeco music. Squeezebox ace, fiddler and singer Jeffery Broussard leads The Creole Cowboys, one of the finest zydeco groups in the world. The roots of the Creole Cowboys’ music are in the traditional Creole songs that Jeffery Broussard heard as a boy when he played music with his father, the late Delton Broussard, and Delton’s band, the Lawtell Playboys. Many of those songs originate from an earlier era when Creoles like Amédé Ardoin played music at house dances. Furniture would be moved outside . The music would give neighbors, weary from long hours in the fields, the energy to dance until early morning. Ben Pagac will be teaching YOU zydeco dance moves starting at 7:45pm. Beginners welcome!
