Things to do in Baltimore this week 1/1/18

It’s a slow week for events as we recover from NYE and start working on our resolutions. Nonetheless, I’m sure you can find something to fill your time. It’s so cold outside, why not spend your time indoors seeing some great Baltimore theatre? This week is your last chance to go see The Revolutionists at Everyman Theatre. Spotlighters Theatre is showing First Date until the end of the month and I’ll be seeing it soon. Go have some fun!

Terrault
218 W. Saratoga St. 3rd Floor, Baltimore
Please join us for the opening reception of ‘Cut, Copy, Paste. It’s Not What You Think’ on Saturday, January 6, 2018 7-10PM for an exhibition of new works by Alex Ebstein (MD) and Leah Guadagnoli (NYC). Exhibition runs: January 6 – February 17, 2018
For the past three years, Alex Ebstein has been working with PVC yoga mats as her primary medium to create paintings and preliminary installation work. She is attracted to this material for its ability to act as a synthetic proxy for the body, its recognizability and providing a predetermined, readymade color palette. Personal narrative and social critique serve as the underlying motivations for her otherwise bold, abstract compositions. While they can be appreciated on a purely aesthetic level, they also convey a sardonic sense of humor.

MOONSHINE HOLLER (Paula Bradley and Bill Dillof): A two-person musicfestival that captures the essence of American southern roots music on fiddle, banjo, guitar, Hawaiian guitar, harmonica and ukulele, the duet has performed at festivals, concerts and music camps across the country.  SOMETIMES ROWDY, SOMETIMES REVERENT, ALWAYS A RUCKUS!

The Strange Ones with Lauren Wolkstein & Christopher Radcliff!
7:15PM – 9:15PM
The SNF Parkway / Maryland Film Festival
5 West North Avenue, Baltimore
JOHN WATERS names THE STRANGE ONES one of the Top 10 Films of 2017! THE STRANGE ONES opens at the Parkway Friday, January 5; join us the evening of Sunday, January 7 for a special screening with directors Lauren Wolkstein and Christopher Radcliff! The Strange Ones is a revelatory feature that more than confirms the rich talent and strong cinematic voices on display in Lauren Wolkstein and Christopher Radcliff’s short films. As The Strange Ones unfolds we meet two travelers, who we and all those they encounter presume to be brothers. But as their backstory begins to crumble and their present is rocked by suspicions and violence, we begin to re-examine everything we think we know about this strange duo.

Enjoy!

– Lindsey

Love your weekly lists! I moved to Baltimore in May and I don’t think I would have had a quarter of the amount of fun without your help.
