Charles Revival Series
1711 N Charles St, Baltimore
4K RESTORATION “One of Renoir’s most completely delightful movies…a comedy-thriller-romance about employees of a publishing firm setting up a glorious collective when their lecherous and oppressive boss suddenly goes missing. Chaos sets in when he unexpectedly reappears to reap the fruit of their success, built on the imaginative efforts of a writer of Westerns who also finds a way out of the predicament by using a gun. Fantasy, politics and gentle naturalism combine to perfection, while Renoir’s sympathies for his domestic revolutionaries are so infectious as to make the film genuinely uplifting.” (Geoff Andrew, TimeOut London)

Short Form is The ONLY Art Form
9PM – 10PM
The BIG Theater
1727 North Charles Street, Baltimore
Terry Withers continues the very successful 19-year run of the short-form improv show critics have called “Disturbingly Visceral” and “Fun For Crazy People.”
The “comedy” scene is filled with “lowest common denominator” long-form improvisers. Sure, that type of improv gets laughs, but nine out of 10 scenes are cheap, undisciplined and painfully long. Host Terry Withers gets to the heart of what is great about spontaneity using short-form classics that point to hidden truths. Party Quirks, Match OUTMATCH, Freeze Tag, Ape Nest, Can You Smell What I’m Heightening? and The Slam Pun Competition feed the soul and edify the mind.

Peter Stern: Third Spaces Exhibition Opening
6:45PM – 8PM
Creative Alliance
3134 Eastern Ave, Baltimore
In Peter Stern’s photography, viewers see the Mid-Atlantic from a unique and intimate perspective. Flying low, slow, and alone in his small airplane over the coal mines of Pennsylvania and the coastal landscapes of the lower Eastern Shore, Stern conveys an intimacy with his subject that echoes his deep personal connection to the region. With the ability to fly between 400 and 800 feet above his subjects, and shooting primarily in “birds-eye” perspective, Stern discovered that he could create compositions with minimal reference to recognizable objects. These images occupy a place between the abstract and the representational, which Stern refers to as “Third Spaces”. As his preferred subject matter, these landscapes are not the sweeping vistas of natural splendor often seen in aerial photography. Rather he interprets the “in-between” spaces: the odd, unusual, and overlooked landscapes that provide deep visual intrigue.
