Free Improv Class
7PM – 9PM
The Crown
1910 N Charles St, Baltimore
Improv is the art form used by Tina Fey, Key & Peele, Will Ferrell and countless others to create their comedy. Improv is unscripted theatre and it is contingent upon moment-to-moment discovery and flexibility. It is often comedic, but not always. It has an excellent philosophy behind it: yes and. “Yes” is about embracing the situation you are given. “And” is about capitalizing on your given circumstance. Improv relies heavily on “if, then” styles of thinking, and encourages performers to embrace spontaneity and their intuition. It is also happens to be crazy fun! There’s absolutely no cost, just show up! Anyone can do it even if you don’t consider yourself a “funny” person. Bring a friend! Bring two! The more the merrier! Like a drop-in yoga class, every class will focus on a different theme.
7-Person Chair Pyramid High Wire Act & Venus
7PM – 9PM
Black Cherry Puppet Theater
1115 Hollins St, Baltimore
The 7-Person Chair Pyramid High Wire Act: In the wilds of Siberia, Charles Darwin goes off in search of the Yeti. The Yeti (if she exists) enters a radio station’s dance contest, hoping to win an all-expenses-paid vacation to a place that doesn’t exist yet. Darwin’s research companion—a little brown bat—falls in love with the radio station’s electromagnetic emissions—but how could that ever end happily? Meanwhile, Siberia’s caves are home to a secretive tribe of ropemakers—but their disintegrating family structure may cause their ancient craft to be lost forever. Through the lens of the real life allegory of the Flying Wallendas’ famous high-wire act, two performers on only a 3’x5’ stage unfold Darwin’s laboratory, unfurl anatomic diagrams of the yeti, and try to tease out the difference between miracles and non-miracles.
“Venus” is a Crankie by Liz Downing, with song and vibrational meditation, inspired by Immanuel Velikovsky’s “Worlds In Collision”.

8PM – 1:30AM
The 8×10
10 E Cross St, Baltimore
So you are a musician that has been around the block and been in a couple of bands, but are new to the area? Maybe you are just in between bands because stupid Gerald on bass had to “make a living” and “support his new baby” or some crap like that. Stupid Gerald. Anyway, you can play but you have no one to play with. Or maybe you are in a successful band but you want some outside influence to push your creative juices. Whatev. Open Jam Night is for you. Not really designed for bands as much for individual musicians, we have 5 “band” performance slots. Who is going to be in that band? it all depends on who shows up! Truly improvisational moments with a band made up of people who just met a half hour ago? Sounds like fun to me. We are lucky enough to have three stellar musicians as our house band on Keys, Bass, and Drums so if only 5 guitarists sign up, We can still rock the house. Just like Open Mic, we provide the backline gear. You only bring your instrument and effects.

Few things frighten and intrigue as much as a ghost story, but incorporating new, thought-provoking questions around the idea of what happens after death can turn a plot into something special. “The Quickening” takes these questions in unexpected directions certain to keep audiences at the edge of their seats. It is the story of a pregnant woman who moves into a new home in Richmond, Virginia, only to discover that all is certainly not as it seems. She faces challenge after challenge with the help of her mother, and her mathematician neighbor, all the while standing against the skepticism of her husband, who has little faith in the “unexplained”. The Quickening celebrates the courage and creativity of womanhood as they face a dire situation where science and folklore intersect at a frightening crossroads.
