10PM – 2AM
Idle Hour
201 E Fort Ave, Baltimore
Dj diaspora started buying records in her hometown Chicago, inspired by the underground deep house parties in the early 90s. After moving to the UK, she was blown away by West London’s “broken beat” scene, and knew her mission as a DJ– to share broken beat, and its influences, with the US. While DJing in Chicago, Philly, NYC, Baltimore, and DC, DJ Diaspora developed her eclectic blend of broken beat with Afrobeat, deep house, disco, Latin jazz, and jungle, with a focus on the African diaspora (which most of broken beat’s UK originators are from). DJ Diaspora has had the honor of opening for such innovative artists as Femi Kuti and the Positive Force and DJ Rekha of Basement Bhangra.

405 N Charles St, Baltimore
This cooking class will launch Sotto Sopra Restaurant’s year-long love story with Bergamo Italy. Bergamo is Chef/Owner Riccardo Bosio’s hometown and he wants to feature the flavors and lifestyle that were part of his journey into the culinary world, to encapsulate the beauty of his native city bite-by-bite. Riccardo’s long time friend, Chef Gianbattista Oldrati from the 4 star Piajo Hotel located in the Bergamo province of Nembro, will be visiting the United States and has agreed to teach this demonstration cooking class. The class will feature a number of Bergamo’s iconic dishes: Casonsei de la Bergamasca, Bergamasca’s Capu, and Torta Donizzetti. Students will join us in our restaurant kitchen where visiting Italian Chef Gianbattista will teach the preparation of three regional dishes from Bergamo Italy. At the completion of the class, everyone will be seated in the dining room and indulge in the dishes prepared with a glass of wine. $65 per person – For Reservations email sottosoprarestaurant@hotmail.com Class is limited to 12 students.

Everything’s New: Baltimore in the Roaring Twenties
2PM – 3PM
The Engineers Club
11 W Mount Vernon Pl, Baltimore
During the decade of the 1920s, Baltimore was a boom town. Throughout the decade, life in Baltimore was changing, as its people and commerce adapted themselves to new social trends, new employment opportunities, and exciting new technologies. In almost every year of the decade, a new and significant business opened or expanded. Commerce, industry and jobs for the city’s residents underwent dynamic changes as Baltimoreans listened to Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong on the radio and danced the Foxtrot and Charleston. Join us for a talk by historian Jack Burkert as he walks through this fascinating time of change in Baltimore.

Blithe Spirit – Spotlighters
January 4 – 20, Fri & Sat 8PM, Sun 2PM
Spotlighters Theatre
817 Saint Paul St, Baltimore
Filled with the wit and charm of Noël Coward, Blithe Spirit is a comedy gem! Featuring: Thom Eric Sinn, Julie Press, Melanie Bishop, Suzanne Young, David Chalmers, Lindsey Schrott, and Shaneia Stewart. As inspiration for his new novel, fussy and cantankerous Charles Condomine invites the wonderfully eccentric medium, Madame Arcati to perform a seance in his house. When things go terribly awry, Charles suddenly finds himself caught in an improbable love triangle between his naive living wife, Ruth, and his decidedly “spirited” former wife, Elvira.
