Things to do in Baltimore this week 7/8/19

Hi friends! Hope you had a great 4th of July. This is partially incomplete because I didn’t have time to finish before I left for the beach, there is no internet at the beach, and I’m not going to attempt to work at the beach anyways. Lots going on this week. On Friday I’m going to Pints in the Park. On Sunday I’m attending The HUGO Ball: A Dada Soiree at The Peale Center. They hosted something similar last year and it was SO much fun. I can’t wait!

8 Short Plays
July 5- 21, Fri – Sun 8PM – 9:30PM
Mercury Theater
1823 North Charles Street, Baltimore
Theresa Columbus is collaborating with Sarah Jacklin to produce and direct “8 Short Plays.” The central idea of the piece is that the audience is watching a surreal vaudevillian variety show: as varied as performance art to classic song n’ dance numbers, or experimental theater to Sunday morning comics. Often poetry in dialogue, the plot is held together with a wild emotional logic. The ensemble brings to life passionate stories in which characters explore their relationships to art, their peers, and themselves. We watch the the inner-lives of the performers unfold as they fumble towards intimacy, embarrassment, and wonder. In the process, traditional forms are celebrated, taken apart, and reinvented. “8 Short Plays” will be showing at the Mercury Theater starting on July 5th & ending on July 21st, on Friday through Sunday nights, showtime 8PM. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite or at the door for $15 or more or pay what you can.
