Things to do in Baltimore this week 8/26/19

Hi friends! The last long weekend of summer approaches. Can you believe how fast this summer went? Still plenty of fun to fill your time with on this last weekend. I’ll be venturing to the beach for the long weekend but before that I plan to hang out at the Brews and Board Games August Pop-Up at Wet City. I know there is a lot of hype going on around the best chicken sandwiches right now, but if you haven’t had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich at Wet City then you probably would think that some fast food joint is the best. So come play games and eat yummy food with fun people. The rest of the week I will have family in town and then we head to the beach. Can’t have family visit without taking them to Foraged so deliciousness is in my future. Have fun and enjoy summer while it lasts!

No matter who’s in the crowd, best friends Noah, New Michael, Jack, and Ethan have one simple mantra: “We would much rather have the audience appreciate us as comedians than people who have overcome adversity.”

Adam Stab -Street Life Art- Closing Reception
7PM – 9PM
The Peale Center
225 N Holliday St, Baltimore
At the closing reception for ADAM STAB STREET LIFE ART, enjoy music in the garden and storytelling with Adam Stab! ADAM STAB STREET LIFE ART is an uncomfortable acknowledgement of the experience of growing up and living on the streets where graffiti is made, and where others tend to avoid. This suite of artwork is inspired by the consideration of what it means to be a part of the world during this time of extreme polarization. Labels of ‘outcast’ and ‘outsider’ may be sought out and embraced by some, while adding to the already sizeable burden of those born without access to wealth, opportunity or privilege and subjugated to the lowest rungs of (American) society. This work is not pretty or vibrant as is a lot of graffiti and “street art.” It is literally trash.

It’s 1950 and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have been tasked with identifying “sexual deviants” within their ranks. There’s just one problem: Both Bob and Norma are gay, and have married each other’s partners as a carefully constructed cover. Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the mainstream American gay rights movement, madcap classic sitcom-style laughs give way to provocative drama as two All-American couples are forced to stare down the closet door.
