Things to do in Baltimore this week 3/23

Hi friends! These are some turbulent times we are living in. Obviously I don’t have any events to promote that will get you out of the house at the moment. So this week and every week until this is over, lets focus on supporting our Baltimore small businesses. The food and beverage industry is suffering, so are those in the arts and entertainment industry.

TODAY – March 21

Saturday, March 21, 7PM – 10PM
Join us on Saturday, March 21 at 7:00 PM for the premiere performance of Pandemic Players’ production of George Bernard Shaw’s Saint Joan. A little pandemic quarantine can’t stop our artistic community. The staged reading of this iconic play will be streamed right to your home. Additional information on use of the streaming platform will be forthcoming. Support your local theatre community as we deal with cancellations and closures in the best way we know how.
The stream can be accessed here

Dining at a Distance Baltimore
Support Baltimore restaurants, while responsibly practicing social distancing.
We’re all in this together. Restaurants need your support. Use this aggregator to find what restaurants in the Baltimore area are open for take-out, curbside pick-up, or delivery during the lockdown of Baltimore’s restaurants and bars during COVID-19. The list is far from complete, so please use this form to add what you know! Many thanks to Cornelius H. and for curating Dining at a Distance in Baltimore.

Baltimore Improv Group
The current COVID-19 health crisis has forced BIG to shutter its nightly performances and classes at our theater in Station North. Our passion and commitment to improv comedy compels us to continue to perform improv comedy online. Our performers and students can continue to improvise over online conferencing platforms like Zoom, Skype, Google Hangout and more. Theater staff will help arrange for shows and highlight our best work on this page. WEEKLY LIVESTREAM SCHEDULE:

We Broke Up
April 17 – 26, Time TBD
Streaming Virtually by Single Carrot Theatre
Announcing WE BROKE UP. – A Play for the Digital Platform by DJ Hills! Coming to your computer screen LIVE beginning April 17th. How do you create community in the time of social distancing? How do you process grief in a digital world? Everyone’s favorite vlogging couple just broke up, and they’re here–streaming live–to tell you all about it. In a climate of social distancing, this play, created for digital performance, explores the world of social-media celebrities and challenges our addictive consumption of the private lives of strangers, revealing that the distance between genuine vulnerability and performative pain is far greater than the inches between one’s face and their computer screen. TAKE THE POLL: WE BROKE UP. is being written specifically to be live-streamed. When are you most likely to watch a live-streamed play?
