ELM’s September Residency at The 8×10 kicks off with Vibe & Direct and Psylo Joe. We will have late-night happy hour specials during Vibe & Direct’s performance.
ELM – Electric Love Machine) is best described as an outer space adventure through sound, infused with doses of electronic funk, traditional Americana and improvisational jazz, and whose foundation is built on a sense of community.

Vibe & Direct is an emerging 3-piece jam band hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, and is comprised of Mike Miller, Danny Giannetto, and Doug Rab. Psylo Joe is an improvisational band who explores divergent areas of music such as funk, rock, acid jazz, blues, and traditional. Hailing from Greenville, NC, the band consists of Bryan (guitar, vox), George (guitar, vox), Hunter (saxophone), Tom (drums), and Matt (bass). The band has taken their artistry all across North Carolina, and have developed a loyal and congenial following. The Marcus King Band w/ Brooks Long and The Mad Dog No Goodq
7PM – 12AM
The 8×10
10 E Cross St, Baltimore
CEG & Nolafunk Present: The Marcus King Band at The 8×10!
Songwriter. Guitarist. Singer. Bandleader. At only 20 years of age, Marcus King’s dazzling musical ability is evident throughout The Marcus King Band, the young phenom’s 2nd full-length LP and first for Fantasy Records. Operating within the fiery brand of American roots music that King calls “soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock,” the album highlights King’s gorgeous, rough-hewn vocals, soaring guitar work and heartfelt songwriting all amidst a group of masterful musicians who, together, are quickly becoming one of the country’s most sought after live acts.
Brooks Long and The Mad Dog No Good – Melding the traditions of vintage R&B and Blues with the aesthetics of classic singer/songwriters, Brooks Long brings the old school into the 21st century in a style all his own. Whether by himself or with his backing band, the funky, righteous Mad Dog No Good, he brings to his live shows the kind of passion, energy and humor rare in today’s music scene.

David Ubias “Onslaught of Obsolescence” Opening Reception
6PM – 9PM
SpaceCamp
16 W North Ave, Baltimore
Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore presents David Ubias’ Onslaught of Obsolescence at Spacecamp in Baltimore, MD. David is serious about making silly paintings and the show will be his first comprehensive installation of this continuing series. David utilizes the constraints of modest materials such as paper pulp, hot glue, and wood as a shrug towards the frenzy of new media. The results are intensely textured and colored paintings that present an iconography that slips between the contemporary and the archaic, the acerbic and the earnest. Body language, personal anecdotes, advertising and current events serve as a catalyst for studio activity. Onslaught of Obsolescence is an ongoing project that explores enduring (common) technologies that teeter on the threshold of relevance while also questioning the feasibility of maintaining a constant state of curated comfort.
Spacecamp, s-p-a-c-e-c-a-m-p.net
Spacecamp creates temporary autonomous zones for the habitation of social and cultural activations. Spacecamp is an open source, curated community space for artistic projects in Baltimore. Spacecamp is governed by a group of 5 people who set the schedule and coordinate with potential collaborators who are interested in using the space. Spacecamp does not program the space for it’s own projects, but partners with organizations that will produce great shows with artists or groups of artists.

EarthCry (Anthony of Papadosio) at The 8×10 with Erothyme
8PM – 1AM
The 8×10
10 E Cross St, Baltimore
EarthCry is Anthony of Papadosio’s secondary musical project, serving as an outlet for his more electronic musical ideas, as well as a place to try experimental genre mashing, developmental frequency blending, and odd instrument combinations. Staying true to live roots, an EarthCry show can consist of any combination of live instruments, mixing, slicing, looping, and cutting overtop of arrangements that come out differently every time. All the while, electronic controls are always facing the crowd to encourage a deeper experience of interaction. As a beneficial operation, EarthCry also donates 50% of all earnings to different ecological initiatives around the world.
Erothyme was born on planet Earth and has been making the jams since, like, forever, man! His sound is a majestic blend of overblown hyperbole and meaningless adjectives that actually have nothing to do with music. Scientific research suggests that he is freshy fresh and his tracks land in your ear like a dolphin gracefully diving into the surface of the ocean after doing a triple backflip in front of the setting sun.

Aligning Minds  is melodic and bass heavy. It’s emotionally charged future music that rides on hypnotic breakbeats, infectious basslines, dubby soundscapes, and idm experimentation for one to dance or lounge to.

Grimer is the alias of DJ and selecta Max Stillson. He started pulling records at the age of 13 when he first heard dub in the form of King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry. In his later teen years he moved toward metal for its grittier, edgier feel. Then he heard the grimey goodness of dubstep from djs like Hatcha and Youngsta and was hooked.

Kyczar – Connecting people through vibrational energies, Kyczar sticks to deep dubstep roots while constantly evolving and experimenting with unique styles. Adding layers of such feeling and soul creates a musical experience unlike anything else. www.facebook.com/kyczardub https://soundcloud.com/kyczardub

Sunday, September 11

The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) at The Senator
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 AT 10AM
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 AT 1PM
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 AT 1PM
The Senator Theatre
5904 York Rd, Baltimore
Jim Henson’s Muppets find themselves in Manhattan yearning to get a musical on Broadway in this charming film that also chides show business and its foibles. Kermit the Frog has just put together a successful variety show at Danhurst college (probably somewhere between Amherst and Dartmouth), and although he would like to mount it on Broadway so he would have a hit and be able to marry Miss Piggy, he cannot find backers. The Muppets are then forced to take jobs to support themselves, and it is while working as a waiter that Kermit meets the friendly Jennie (Juliana Donald). Jennie is the daughter of the owner of the restaurant and a source of great jealousy for Miss Piggy, who does not like competition. With stunning musical numbers involving a hundred or so Muppets and on-scene locations in New York City, the film is impressive in its merging of technical achievements and acting.
