Guitar Wolf (Japanese: ギターウルフ) is a Japanese garage rock power trio founded in Nagasaki in 1987. The band is known for songs with piercing vocals and an extremely loud style of noise-influenced punk which emphasizes heavy distortion and feedback. They coined the phrase “jet rock ‘n’ roll”, which they also use to describe their musical style – an energetic cross between the Ramones, Link Wray, rockabilly, 77 punk, and garage rock. The band is part of Sony Music Japan’s Ki/oon Records division.  Guitar Wolf has released nine studio albums internationally as well as a live album, numerous singles, and a retrospective compilation called Golden Black. The band members have also been featured in two B-grade science fiction horror movies: Wild Zero and Sore Losers. A collection of Guitar Wolf’s most popular videos and live performances have been compiled into a limited edition DVD entitled Red Idol.

Roman Holiday at the Senator
7PM & 9:30PM
The Senator Theatre
5904 York Rd, Baltimore
“Charming. This is the picture that made Audrey Hepburn a movie star. Probably no one could have brought out her skinny, long-necked gamine magic as winningly as the director William Wyler did; his calm, elegant style prepares the scenes and builds the character until she has the audience in thrall, and when she smiles we’re all goners. She plays a Central European princess on an official tour of Rome. The princess flies the royal coop and has her first experiences of freedom with an American reporter (Gregory Peck, who is at his most animated and likable) and his photographer-sidekick (Eddie Albert)….Much of the film was shot on Roman locations. The cinematography was by Franz Planer until he fell ill and Henri Alekan took over…. Hollywood folklore has it that Hunter, who picked up an Academy Award for his contribution (to the script), may have been serving as a front for the blacklisted Dalton Trumbo.)” (Pauline Kael)

ELM September Residency with The Mantras – The Jauntee
8PM – 1:30AM
The 8×10
10 E Cross St, Baltimore
Week 2 of ELM’s September Residency with The Mantras and The Jauntee. We’ll be having a special late-night happy hour during The Mantra’s set.
ELM – Electric Love Machine is best described as an outer space adventure through sound, infused with doses of electronic funk, traditional Americana and improvisational jazz, and whose foundation is built on a sense of community.
ELM is part of a dedicated and diverse network of Live performance artists, acrobats, painters, graphic artists, musicians, fashion designers, and music lovers from in and around the Baltimore area who support each other and often perform together to make each show a profoundly unique experience.
The Mantras a five piece jam machine born of Greensboro, NC have been conquering crowds and melting minds all over the country progressively for over a decade. The band’s music can be described with all types of varying rock and roll terminology, but is absolutely best defined by each listener’s ear and, equally important, their experience.
The Jauntee  Drawing influence from a wide variety of bands, The Jauntee’s improvisational landscape spans multiple genres, including: Funk/Rock/Jazz/Progressive/Bluegrass/Psychedelic and Ambient music. Their willingness to explore genres, abandon all song structure, and dive into ‘the weird’ sets them apart from your average upcoming Jam Band. They aim to push the boundaries of improvisation, embrace the moment and engage the audience. With an ever-expanding song catalog and an inclination for open ended improvisation, every show promises to be a unique experience.

Jack Oblivian and The Sheiks w/ Lazlo Lee & The Motherless Children, The Expotentials and DJ Rob Macy
8PM – ?
Metro Gallery
1700 N Charles St, Baltimore
Jack Oblivian and the Sheiks !!!
The Expotentials
DJ Rob Macy (of Save Your Soul)
Depending on whom you ask, Jack “Oblivian” Yarber is either a rock legend or an absolute unknown. This dichotomy is well-understood by Memphis musicians, as underground “fame,” for all its rewards, has, with a few exceptions, been the ceiling for local acts for decades. And no one knows this dichotomy better than Yarber, who may be Memphis’ most influential active rock musician. Aside from his own records, the list of noteworthy bands Yarber has been a member of over the years is massive and includes Johnny Vomit & the Dry Heaves (a high school punk project that also featured future Squirrel Nut Zipper Jimbo Mathus), ’80s new-wavers the End, ’68 Comeback, Knaughty Knights, and Tav Falco’s Panther Burns. Two of Yarber’s former bands — the Compulsive Gamblers and the Oblivians — have seen their reputation and following swell in the decade since their demise, especially the Oblivians, whose international fan base borders on rabid. Due largely to his stint in these bands, both partnerships with Greg Cartwright, now of the Reigning Sound, Yarber has been an acknowledged influence on artists such as the White Stripes, the Hives and Jay Reatard.
