Things to do in Baltimore this week 4/3/17

Hi Friends!  Coming to you earlier than normal so I can get my eat on at Emporiyum today.  I’m still in the middle of my recovery phase from Rye Rocks last night.  Morale of the story is that rye whiskey does indeed rock and if you serve candied bacon like french fries I’m going to eat too much bacon.  Now for this week… Light City is still going strong.  Get downtown and experience all Light City has to offer.  Hopefully the weather will be kind to it.  Opening day is tomorrow!  If you get the day off work you can start drinking as early as 9AM.  Go do some stuff people!

Light City – ALL WEEK!
March 31 – April 8
7PM-11PM nightly; open until midnight on Friday and Saturday
Launched by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts in 2016, Light City Baltimore is the first large-scale, international light festival in the United States. In its first year, Light City welcomed more than 400,000 people over seven nights.
Light City is a free festival that transforms Baltimore with large-scale light installations, performances, music and innovation. Central to Light City is the BGE Light Art Walk along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, featuring more than 50 attractions including illuminated sculptures, projections, interactive technologies, performances, concerts, food vendors and a children’s area.
Light City’s innovation programming, Labs@LightCity generates an ecosystem of ideas and learning during the day – while lights, performances and live music re-imagine Baltimore at night.

D Center Baltimore Convo #81: design teaching…teaching design
6:15PM – 8PM
The Windup Space
12 W North Ave, Baltimore
Teaching is an entirely design-oriented profession. Teachers are charged with a huge problems and the creation of huge solutions, and then must backwards–map those solutions in a manner that tackles many little problems along the way. No one really knows what the future of work and jobs are going to be in the near future. Teachers are a vital and often undiscussed piece of both the current and future economy. With the coming changes to the educational system, teachers have to think ahead about the sustainability of their teaching careers, the necessity of their side pursuits, and their students’ economic futures.
Come participate as this D-Center Convo panel of Baltimore City teachers explores DESIGN TEACHING and teaching design.
