I’ve lost the fight with the humidity this week. It’s un-straightened hair and boho-chic clothing from here on out. Plenty going on this week here in Baltimore. Thursday is the night that will give you FOMO. Way too many fun things happening. I decided to attend the Summer Soiree at Sagamore Pendry. Somehow I’ve yet to visit the space and this looked like the perfect opportunity. On Friday I’m donning my best surrealist garb and attending Illuminated (A Surrealist Garden Party) at The Peale Center. They always have the most unusual events there. CRS & Baltimore Orioles 75,000 Meal Challenge

Catholic Relief Services and the Baltimore Orioles are fighting hunger together and need your help. To celebrate CRS’ 75th anniversary, help us raise enough money to send 75,000 meals to vulnerable people in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Fifty cents a meal can feed 50 people for only $25. The Challenge culminates with a spirited meal-packaging event at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. When you register as a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to package meals alongside former Orioles players and the Oriole Bird. Space is limited. Join us as we knock one out of the park and together, build a future free from hunger. Fundraising teams that raise $500 (to fund at least 1,000 meals) will receive 10 tickets to the Orioles game against the Houston Astros on Saturday, September 29 at 7:05pm. After you’re done feeding your starving artist, Anne will show you how to scan and clean up your art in photoshop, turn your watercolor pages into a digital, printable and repeatable design! “Baltimore’s Strange Fruit: A Story of Food Apartheid and the Struggle for Sovereignty” is a documentary film produced by Black Yield Institute, directed by Eric Jackson and Maddie Hardy. The film explores the intersections of food, land, and race and class politics through personal narrative and social commentary. The film journeys through the historical woes and triumphs of people of African Descent within the food system, while highlighting contemporary efforts to address the complex nature of food apartheid in Baltimore. This screening is a part of Reginald F. Lewis Museum’s Sunday @ 2 Film Series.

On this show Moraes pays tribute to one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century: Antonio Carlos Jobim. Moraes has introduced thousands of music lovers to Brazilian music through performances in Switzerland, Poland, Brazil and the US, where she now resides. She has performed at Zinc Bar and The Iridium in New York City, for Artscape and the yearly sold-out Carnival concerts at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, and in countless Washington, D.C. venues and festivals such as D.C. Jazz Festival and Adams Morgan Day. She has two albums to her credit and collaborates on many musical projects. She will be accompanied by WAYNE WILENTZ and JONAS DURANTE.
