April 26 – May 4, Fri & Sat 7:30PM, Sat 2PM, Sun 3PM
Carl J. Murphy Fine Arts Center
2201 Argonne Dr., Baltimore
The play depicts an imagined conversation between Emmett Till, an African- American boy, and Anne Frank, a German Jewish girl. This conversation takes place in “Memory,” a non-specific afterlife or alternate dimension. Each was killed when he/she was a young teenager because of racial persecution and hatred. In their conversation, Anne and Emmett recount their lives and experiences, comparing and contrasting the events in their lives and deaths. Both children lived and perished in times of great turmoil and hatred for their people. Both children had big dreams for their future and were sources of pride and joy for their families. Anne Frank, one of the smallest but strongest voices of the Holocaust would have been 90 years old this year. Emmet Till, whose murder was the impetus of the Civil Rights Movement would be 78 years old. In Janet Langhart Cohen’s Anne & Emmett we experience the bright light of both young people that remain in the universe.

Janet Langhart Cohen’s Anne & Emmett

Orville Peck w/ Revvnant and RJVJ at Metro Gallery
8PM – ?
Metro Gallery
1700 N Charles St, Baltimore
Combining the lulling ambiance of shoegaze with the iconic melodies and vocal prowess of classic American country music, outlaw cowboy, Orville Peck croons about love and loss from the badlands of North America. The resulting sound is entirely his own. He takes the listener down desert highways, through a world where worn out gamblers, road-dogs, and lovesick hustlers drift in and out of his masked gaze. Orville’s debut album, Pony, delivers a diverse collection of stories that sing of heartbreak, revenge and the unrelenting tug of the cowboy ethos. Warm lap steel guitars and echoing drums move through dreamy ballads and sometimes near frantic buzzsaw tunes – all the while paying homage to his country music roots.

Janet Langhart Cohen’s Anne & Emmett
