Well the people have spoken. I’m back – maybe not in the fullest capacity but I’d like to highlight a few must do things every week. I’m mostly going to focus on theater/comedy, food/drinks, and some worthy causes. A lot of stuff is still pretty up in the air with COVID-19 restrictions, mask mandates, and all that not fun stuff. Please get vaccinated so we can do all the fun things again. So first are a few week-long highlights and below that are some recommendations for individual days.

Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week
August 6 – 29
This summer, Maryland Vegan Eats welcomes back returning restaurants and invites new restaurants to participate in a compassionate campaign by encouraging them to offer healthy, plant-based, and/or vegan items as part of their menu selections. Maryland is an exciting and vibrant state full of unique counties, towns, and neighborhoods boasting incredible diversity. Nothing brings people and community together quite like good food. The mission of Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week is to bridge the gap by increasing the awareness, benefits, and accessibility of a plant-based diet through a fun, innovative, and community-based experience. From August 6 through August 29, join us in welcoming back vegan and veg-friendly restaurants during the summer edition of Vegan Restaurant Week: Welcome Back, Maryland! Restaurants are being asked to promote healthier menus with whole food plant-based items that can benefit your health, reduce animal cruelty, and save the environment. Enjoy a variety of plant-based and/or vegan menu items. Customers will get to cast their vote on their favorite dishes. All customers are welcome, not just vegans! Are you up for the challenge? Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week is a great treat for everyone, vegan or not.

Baltimore AFRAM
August 15 – 22
By now you’ve heard that AFRAM 2021 is returning as a week-long hybrid experience. We’re keeping all of your favorite parts of AFRAM and spreading them across the city for both in-person and digital festivities. Beginning August 15, you can catch us in pop-up locations or online for a week of food, fun and celebration. Then join us virtually for the festival headliners on August 21-22. While this year’s festival won’t bring 100,000 people to Druid Hill Park, we believe that the spirit of AFRAM will still be felt.
This year, we’ve partnered with local, black and women-owned businesses city-wide for AFRAM Restaurant Week. Each restaurant has created a special menu item for our #Aframily to enjoy from August 15-22. Check out the list below to find a participating restaurant near you.
